Condition Monitoring: Condition monitoring involves continuously or periodically assessing the health of equipment to detect early signs of failure and prevent unplanned downtime. It allows proactive maintenance by identifying issues before they lead to breakdowns.

Key Techniques:

  • Ultrasound Monitoring: Detects high-frequency sound waves produced by friction, impact, and turbulence. It is highly effective for identifying bearing wear, air and gas leaks, and electrical discharge (arcing). Portable ultrasound devices enable real-time diagnosis during operation.
  • Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA): Analyzes the electrical current drawn by motors to detect abnormalities. Variations in current patterns can indicate rotor bar defects, misalignment, insulation degradation, or mechanical imbalances. MCSA is non-invasive and provides early fault detection without dismantling equipment.
